Welcome to the Daniel A. Payne Reclamation Program. . . .Savings lives one at a time!

Reclamation - the act or process of reclaiming what’s yours;
to rescue oneself and return to a rightful course.

Message For The Formerly Incarcerated:

Greetings from the Daniel A. Payne Reclamation Program (DAPRP)!  Reclamation means “to rescue oneself and reclaim what is yours” and this is what we are here to do. DAPRP is a faith-based non-profit organization operating out of Metropolitan AME Church, located downtown at 1518 M Street NW.  We were established in response to the high rate of incarceration and recidivism among minorities, particularly African-American men. Our mission is to reduce recidivism and strengthen the family, community and spiritual relationships of those returning home from incarceration.

In January 2002, the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) established its Faith-Based Initiative (FBI), a partnership with the local faith community to provide mentoring and other vital support services to men and women under criminal justice supervision in the District of Columbia.  CSOSA recently entered into an agreement with the Daniel Alexander Payne Reclamation Project (DAPRP) to provide outreach and support services in Cluster C, which represents Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the District of Columbia. DAPRP is now in its first year of an innovative collaboration between the faith community and the federal government.

Approximately two thousand formerly incarcerated persons return to the District of Columbia each year with few resources for housing, food, and employment, among other necessities.  Keeping in mind CSOSA’s Faith-Based Initiative Mission: To provide a powerful opportunity for the faith community to help remold and restore the lives of returning offenders, DAPRP will be the coordinating body behind the faith based mentorship initiative striving to prevent recidivism, strengthen the family, community, and spiritual relationships of formerly incarcerated men and women.

Working closely with Wards 1-4 (Shaw, Georgia Ave, Petworth, Columbia Heights, etc)  We seek to provide critical services such as mentoring, life skills, computer training, and job placement assistance.

We do not discriminate based on religious affiliation.  We have established a mentoring program for those men/women who need someone to talk to, confide in, or help navigate the new “DC”.  Depending on how long you have been away, when you return the people, places and things you knew may no longer exist.

The first Saturday of each month at 10am DAPRP holds a First Saturday Program where we have a roundtable discussion on the different struggles affiliated with the reentry process and together we work through the challenges and come up with solutions.  The men who facilitate these groups are very knowledgeable of the resources available in DC and have been a great help to many of the guys and girls who have come through DAPRP.

DAPRP is open for walk-ins from 9am-1pm Monday though Friday.  We can be reached by phone at (202) 462-1360, ask for Mike.  We believe that there is no barrier to re-entry that the faith-community cannot overcome.  Come by and see what we have to offer.

Thank You and God Bless!
