RE-ENTRY SERVICES

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

DAPRP is seeking committed faith-based institutions to become part of a network in the District of Columbia that provides direct services, support, and mentoring to the ex-offender population.

MENTORING

DAPRP is actively seeking mentors for ex-offenders to receive better access to resources as well as foster opportunities for growth.  Mentors must be at least 25 years of age, and of good character and maturity.  Men and women of all backgrounds are welcome to apply, however African-American male mentors are strongly in need.

Any interested parties, should call DAPRP (202) 462-1360,

RESOURCE SERVICE PROVIDERS

DAPRP is looking for resource providers who are willing to assist ex-offenders in a successful re-entry into society.  Some of the resources we need, but not limited to, are: Food Banks, Clothing Closets, Anger Management Classes, Legal Services, Emergency Shelters, Job Training, Job Placement, Computer Training, GED Classes, Child Care, Life Skills Training and Parenting Classes.

Any interested parties should contact Tashia P. Chambers, Outreach Coordinator for DAPRP, on (202) 462-1360 or e-mail at tchambers@daprp.org.

FIRST SATURDAY PROGRAM

The first Saturday of each month beginning at 10am DAPRP holds a First Saturday Program where ex-offenders from around the city hold a roundtable discussion on the different struggles affiliated with the reentry process.  Together, these men and women work through the challenges and come up with solutions.  The Mighty Men of Metropolitan facilitate these groups and are very knowledgeable of the resources available in Washington, DC and are a great help to those who come through DAPRP.  For more information please call (202) 462-1360.

LIFE SKILLS TRAINING

From August through October of every year, DAPRP offers an 8-week long life-skills training workshop.  The group meets daily from 10am- 2pm with lunch provided.  Topics range between maintaining your health, opening a bank account, balancing a budget, creating healthy relationships, and obtaining and maintaining employment.  Guest speakers come in frequently and participants also take field trips to different places around the city.  Recruitment for this training usually begins in July.  For more information on this program call (202) 462-1360.
